Wow, what a mouthful! Well, what else am I going to call her? Boyfriends mother? Too simple and boring, so upcoming-soon-to-be-mother-in-law it is! We’ve been together for 8,5 years, I think it’s safe to call her that. This is the first time I’ve made her something at all. It’s her birthday on the 21th, so I figured I could make her something since I already made my mother something this year. Boyfriend was pleased ’cause now he doesn’t need to think about what to get her. He just needs to pay, muahahaha!

This is the first time I’ve made any of these two patterns from Seamwork. I’m glad I had the chance. They are not something that I would consider for myself, but I think I’ve changed my mind after making them. They are so simple and elegant! First of the Akita top.

Have you made the Akita top before? No? It is cut out in one piece. ONE PIECE! I didn’t  know that going in. That made me love it even more. It’s simple and made up in a jiffy. You cut out the piece and basically just sew in the sideseams. Isn’t that wonderful? It has a split side seam at the hem making it more interesting.

The other one, the York blouse is a beauty. It doesn’t shape as much but the simple details makes it fantastic. It has a cuffed sleeve, which the cuff is split, and it also has a keyhole at the back of the neck making it easier to put on. I really liked the keyhole at the back.

I’m positive that I would make something like these two patterns for my own wardrobe in the future. Because you all know how I lack of separates in my closet!
