The ultimate ballgown

Mamá Imelda Rivera

Since I’m leaving for London tonight to go at the Dressmakers Ball at Leichester tomorrow, I thought it would be suited for me to finally blog about another extrodinary make for a fancy event I went to last year.

The dress is the amazing Magnolia dress from Deer & Doe. I made the maxi dress version with thigh split and low neckline. I love how incredibly sexy it is, but not too much so that it becomes tacky.

Every two years the company I work for arranges a huge party for all the branches in Norway. It it usually in Oslo or Trondheim, this time it was in Oslo. It was my first time attending since I didn’t get the chance to go in 2016 and it was one of the most wildly luxuries parties I’ve been to.

Since I live in Trondheim, we got tickets to fly down for the weekend and a hotel stay for the evening. The flight was early, and when we arrived at the venue we were received by food and badges for the conference. During the conference we had three lunches, yes, THREE. I was so happy. Then there was back at the hotel to get dolled up for the main event. There was a pre-party containing drinks, photo booth, arcade games, sewist to fix your buttons, zippers etc., shoe shiners and 40 (!!!) make-up artist to help you with make up. This was followed by the actual party which was a three course dinner with some of Norway’s best celebrity entertainers. The after-party was more food and a sing-along-pianobar or at least I hope it was. There was a lot of dancing and laughter all night long, because lucky for me, I love my colleagues. I was lucky that my hotel was just across the street from the event, so when my feet was sore I went back to the hotel, took a long hot shower and slept like a baby.

For such a fancy event I needed a fancy dress, and it was perfect that Deer & Doe had just released this pattern. I hope I get the chance to wear this piece again on another event. Or by the looks of it, it could be worn to a winter wedding!

I can’t wait to see what D&D comes up with for their spring/summer collection. I’ve always loved their patterns!
